'Turfbreaking' set for EWU's red field

06/09/2010 - Cheyney, WA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Tennessee Titans All-Pro tackle Michael Roos will be in attendance for a "turfbreaking" ceremony at Eastern Washington on Saturday, as the Big Sky Conference university moves toward installing a red turf field.

EWU is replacing its grass field with the first-ever red artificial turf. EWU will re-name its Woodward Field to Roos Field upon project completion. Roos and his wife Katherine, both graduates of EWU, kick-started the project with a $500,000 pledge.

They will join several EWU administrators and others on Saturday for the ceremonial uncovering of sod. The public is invited to attend the 5 p.m. (West Coast) ceremony.

As a senior at EWU in 2004, Roos made The Sportsbook Betting Lines All-America First Team. Over the last five seasons with the Titans, Roos has started all 80 regular-season games, plus two playoff games, 21 preseason games and the 2009 Pro Bowl.
